Connect with the Library:

MaineCat services are temporarily suspended due to a pending statewide interruption in delivery services between library systems.

MaineCat is a service that allows individuals to access materials from library systems throughout the state of Maine, including here at Portland Public Library. PPL patrons will not be able to request items through MaineCat as of June 4, 2024. This interruption is caused by a legal appeals process regarding the delivery vendor contract and is expected to last at least nine weeks.

PPL and MaineCat FAQ »

While this interruption affects PPL patrons seeking materials from other library systems in Maine, PPL staff are making adjustments to ensure that community members are connected to the materials they are seeking. Items will continue to circulate between all PPL locations as normal.

During this period, there will also be changes to PPL’s Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services.

ILL services connect patrons to materials that are not in PPL’s or MaineCat’s collections.
