Kids’ Comic Workshop with David Bruggink

Saturday | November 11, 2023
1:00pm - 2:00pm

Location: Meeting Room (4)
Audience: Kids & Families

Illustration by David Bruggink of a dog wearing a backpack staring over a vast marsh, observing an egret.

Love to read comics but feel daunted by making your own? This is the perfect opportunity to get comfortable with the comic or graphic novel format. We’ll create characters, help them express themselves, and put them in diverse scenarios. By the end of this session, each student will have created their own multi-panel mini-narrative and gained confidence in creating comics in their own style. The library will provide pens, colored pencils, crayons, and drawing supplies. For ages 8-12.

This workshop is being offered in conjunction with our Why We Make Comics exhibit, currently on display in the Lewis Gallery. Be sure to check out the exhibit before or after the workshop!

Registration is required. You can register online or stop by the Children’s Desk at the Downtown Library, calling the Children’s Library (207-771-2707), or emailing us: childrens@portlib.org.
