Special Event: Red Light Rooster
A family fun event! Join dancing storyteller Louis Gervais for a hilarious, action packed hour of riotous tales and joyful dance games for all audiences. Special FREE performance at the Main Branch of the library on Saturday, May 24, 2003 at 11:00 am in the Rines Auditorium.

On Friday, May 16, 2003 , Bobby will lead a Storytelling Workshop titled, Fundamentals of Storytelling: How to Find, Rehearse and Tell a New Story.

Rines Auditorium

The Storytelling Performance is free and open to the public with no advance reservations required.

Three-time Emmy Award winner and Parents' Choice honoree, Bobby Norfolk is an internationally known story performer and teaching artist and is one of the most popular and dynamic story-educators in the country today.

This St. Louis native worked as a stand up comedian in area comedy clubs, and as a National Park Service Ranger presenting historical interpretive programs for school groups and community, and then becoming a full-time teller in 1987. Well known for high-energy performances and lively animation, his stories promote character education, cultural diversity and self-esteem, and are geared for audiences of all ages.

NASA Benefits of Space Exhibit
visits the Portland Public Library
Monday, May 12 & Tuesday, May 13
10:00am-7:00pm

The Benefits of Space on Tour exhibit shows the many ways in which technologies developed in the US space program now have an effect on everyone's daily life. Using audio and video exhibits, and a surround-sound theater, this interactive event will be sure to thrill all ages. The exhibit is brought to us by NASA and the Johnson Space Center, and takes approximately 30 minutes to view. Advance reservations not required except for groups of 10 or more. The Benefits of Space semi-trailer that houses the exhibit will be parked directly across from the Main Library in Monument Square
